Session 1 only
Early Childhood, Elementary, Teaching Assistants, ESE
Room 32007
Building 3
2nd Floor
Aury Venegas
Calvary Christian Academy
Learning and sharing about Neuro-Sensory Integration is my passion, it has been an eye opening experience to see children, education (and parenting) in a different way. If we take a look at the child’s senses we will be able to better understand their behavior and, as a result, to better connect and train in the way they should go. Just as a good foundation is essential to support a building, a good foundation in a child’s body will allow him to explore, enjoy, and learn academic skills. Organizing the senses and the maturation of primary reflexes are important in the first three to eight years of life to effectively reduce or avoid a dysfunction later on. It is the groundwork for learning and positive behavior. Understanding child development affects and shapes our way to interact, teach and work with children. In this workshop, we will explore some of the foundational and major contributors to what we know today as Child Development and how we can bring their theories to practice inside our classrooms. We will explore materials, lessons they developed, and ways to use these tools to create meaningful learning experiences. These allows us to use education as a tool for sharing the gospel. We will also explore how to purposely work with retain primary reflexes, necessary for a child’s learning experience in a classroom environment.

2nd Floor
Anna Silva
Real Life Christian Academy
How do you allow students to drive their own learning? Real teaching is finding creative and innovative ways to engage your students by immersing them in your daily lessons and allowing the student to be the driver behind their own learning. Student driven learning allows students to be both teacher and student and to find what they are passionate about along with unique ways that they learn. As teachers, we are often pulled in many directions to meet all the students needs. While, this is heroic, students can suffer because they are not responsible for their own learning and they do not find meaning behind it. It is imperative that students take responsibility for their education, but how can you develop that in your students? When you work to immerse and engage students effectively in lessons, they will learn and have fun doing it!

I discovered Not only is there no “War” between the Bible and Science , but, in fact, the reading of the Bible caused the “scientific revolution”. This is not a minority view but is the view of most historians, even atheist historians.

Eric Deweber
Boca Raton Christian School
We’ve all been there… you know there’s a video on youtube that will help you with your lesson, but even when you preload it, it runs an innappropriate/disctracting advertisement that takes your classroom to a new level of chaos and brings on panic to the teacher; even if it doesn’t derail your class, it feels unprofressional. You don’t have to ever experience that again! Google’s educational tools, in this case, google slides, enables you to use any resource on Youtube without running any advertisements before or during classroom videos, without any banner ads embedded over top of the screen, without any video recommendations that show at the end of the video. This breakout will also instruct teachers on how to create and use Google Slides for classroom instruction. This presentation is for any teacher who may ever need to show a video on Youtube; this session is Youtube and Google Slide specific; it will not work with other video web formats. A Practical Guide to Culture—Helping the Next Generation Navigate Today’s World

Session 2 only
All Staff
Community Room
Building 1

Brett Kunkle

Founder and President of MAVEN

Something has changed. We all sense it. Our secular culture is growing in hostility to the Christian faith and the cultural pressure is increasing, especially on our kids. But even in a world of ever-present screens, gender identity questions, and a host of other challenges, kids can have clarity and confidence. But we must help them. In this talk, we will examine today’s cultural challenges and provide a practical guide to equip Christian leaders to help the next generation navigate today’s world.

Adaptive Solutions: Seeing Our Challenges Anew
Session 2 only
High School, Administrators
Room 34001A
Building 3
4th Floor
Anna Surratt
Norfolk Christian Schools
When faced with an adaptive challenge, we intuitively make assumptions about the root cause, reasons for a problem, and possible solutions – moving quickly from problem identification to solution generation. However, that swift movement often ignores the value systems, attitudes, competencies, beliefs, loyalties, identities, and coordinated efforts of the people and dynamics involved in shaping the problem. In this session, we will explore and practice counterintuitive strategies that help us slow down to listen to the problem through the experiences of those involved and break free from the status quo. By slowing down to see our challenges anew, we will speed up the trajectory of change by getting the information needed to more accurately diagnose the problem and better design solutions aligned to the needs communicated by those to whom you listened.

In this talk, we explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of education. We begin by outlining the current challenges facing educators and students, such as lack of personalization, inefficient assessment methods, and limited resources for special education. We then delve into the various ways AI can address these issues, including personalized learning paths and intelligent tutoring systems. We discuss real-world examples and case studies that demonstrate the effective implementation of AI in classrooms, online courses, and educational software. Furthermore, we touch upon the ethical considerations and potential drawbacks, such as data privacy concerns and the risk of widening educational inequities. The talk aims to provide a balanced overview of the opportunities and challenges that come with integrating AI into educational settings, equipping educators, policymakers, and technologists with insights for the responsible adoption of AI in education.

Understanding the neuroplastic nature of the brain, and how learning and experiences can form and reorganize synaptic connections is game changing information that should be made available for use in the classroom. Similarly, when a student has a general understanding of their own brain, they have a better grasp on how they think and how they learn. Participants in this breakout session will learn a little background information on the brain, some of the key terms associated with MBE research and some applicable classroom strategies to reinforce growth mindset, reduce cognitive load, and help support developing executive functioning processes.

Christian theatre in a secular world plays a unique and significant role in bridging faith and culture. In a society where secularism often prevails, Christian theatre serves as a platform for artistic expression rooted in religious themes and values. It offers audiences an opportunity to engage with spiritual narratives, moral dilemmas, and timeless truths in a relatable and accessible manner. By seamlessly weaving faith into storytelling, Christian theatre not only entertains but also fosters dialogue, understanding, and reflection, demonstrating that the power of faith-based storytelling can resonate even in a diverse and increasingly secular world.

String Instruments in Christian Schools
Session 2 only
Specials
Room 31092
Building 3
1st Floor
Mike Bradam
First Baptist Academy of Naples
Traditional string instruments of violin, viola, cello and bass have been the backbone of instrumental music for the last 500 years. There are many benefits to teaching string instruments, such as enhanced student brain development that leads to better academic performance. Also, many public schools are cutting fine arts programs at a time when Christian schools could be taking the lead in promoting the fine arts in our communities. But for the Christian school, there is a more basic reason for why we should teach strings in Christian schools. The Bible commands us to use strings in worship, such as in Psalm 150:3-5, Psalm 33:1-3 and Isaiah 38:20, yet many Christian schools have abandoned teaching strings because of the complexity of the instrument. This seminar will discuss the importance of string instruments in Christian schools and give insight into how strings can not only be taught from a Christian perspective but can also be used as a bridge for teaching modern praise band instruments used in contemporary praise and worship.
